FAQ

What is a Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach?

Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaches (NLCs) work with clients who want to make positive, healthy lifestyle choices. NLCs are experts in general nutrition. They work to promote awareness of healthy lifestyles but also use coaching to ensure long-term success. A Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach provides personalized support to help you improve and optimize dietary and lifestyle habits.

It’s like going to the gym and having a personal trainer only with food as the focus. What could be more fun than that?

What goals can I work on?

Before embarking on your nutrition and lifestyle journey ask yourself what are your goals and motivations? What outcome would you like to achieve? Having this in mind helps to focus consultations and gives you personalized attention.

Examples of Goals:

  • Have a healthier diet for optimal health and wellness

  • Improve overall wellness and longevity

  • Introduce more plant-based foods or thrive on a vegan or vegetarien diet

  • Develop a better understanding of nutrition and make healthy choices

  • Manage weight

  • Eat a healthy diet in preparation for pregnancy

  • Learn nutritional needs for each life stage

  • Use food as a tool to improve lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress & energy levels

What is your approach and training?

Food is a powerful tool to support health. In my practice I focus on prevention, good habits and general well-being. My approach emphasizes quality and diversity of food while also paying attention to individual circumstances and dietary preferences.

I take a three-pillars approach to sessions acting as an Expert, Educator and Ally. As an Expert, I trained at the Institute of Health Sciences and have a Diploma in Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching. As an Educator, I present my analysis & feedback of your unique situation and give you individualized recommendations. As an Ally, I can support you to make nutrition & lifestyle changes by working with you to implement concrete action steps into your life.

I provide guidance and support. I help you to understand your motivations and overcome barriers. I act as an accountability partner, because in the end change needs to be made by you. No one else but you can make the change. And of course, everything we discuss is confidential.

How are programs structured?

New clients are strongly encouraged to embark on a Nutrition Program which includes a client questionnaire and 3 day food diary. This gives a 360° view of your current health and helps to define your goals. It is important to remember that change takes time. Developing new habits is a process. Together we can review which plan and duration is right for you.

In the context of a Program, I analyze where you are and how to connect that to where you want to go. I review and analyze several dietary factors including: macro-nutrients, micro-nutrients, food groups, phyto-nutrients, cooking methods, food preparation, anti-nutrients and quality and diversity of food. Lifestyle factors can influence outcomes, so the impact of stress, sleep, exercise and other factors will be reviewed in tandem to support your nutrition.

Using my expertise and your input, together we come up with SMART Action Steps to help you acquire healthy habits and long-term success. Additional support is accompanied by a meal plan catered to you, tracking & support tools.

Do you take an individualized approach?

Yes. Consultations are personalized to you, your needs and your goals.

Are programs held virtually?

Generally, yes. This means you don't have to worry about transport or geography to start your Journey! In-person consultations in Paris can be considered on a case-by-case basis and may require an additional charge.

Is there anyone who Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching would not be a good fit?

It is important to understand that an NLC is not a medical doctor. NLCs cannot diagnose or treat any named medical conditions. They cannot work with someone with a serious illness such as cancer, diabetes, morbid obesity, eating disorders, complex mental health conditions or complex autoimmune conditions. Additionally, they cannot work with someone who requires multiple medications or has serious food intolerances/allergies. As such NLCs cannot offer biomedical testing.

These cases must be overseen by a medical provider. If this concerns you, see your doctor and/or contact a nutritional therapist.

Do you offer corporate packages or group workshops?

Yes. Contact me for information.
